Community Foundation Scholarships

The Community Foundation of San Joaquin (CFOSJ) Scholarship program provides opportunities for San Joaquin Valley students to help pursue their educational goals. Please read the list of scholarships offered below for eligibility requirements in each unique scholarship before clicking the "CLICK HERE TO APPLY NOW" button.
We are accepting college scholarships applications between December 14, 2020 - February 26, 2021. Thank you and best of luck in your educational endeavors.

Approximate Scholarship Application Timeline

  • Applications Open –  December 14, 2020
  • Application Deadline – February 26, 2021 (5:00pm PST)
  • Application Review Period – March through April
  • Applicants Notified of Status – April/May
  • Scholarship Award Funds Disbursed- upon receipt of proof of enrollment and completed follow-up

 

ARTURO VERA ART SCHOLARSHIP

The Arturo Vera Art Scholarship was established by Arturo and Ana Vera to support young people who are pursuing their passions in the Art field.

  • Scholarship Amount: $300 (one scholarship will be awarded this cycle)
  • Open To: All high school seniors in the San Joaquin County pursuing post-secondary education in an Art-related field
  • GPA Requirement: 3.0 GPA minimum

BILL POLLARD JR. SCHOLARSHIP

The Bill Pollard Jr. Scholarship was established by Bill and Kimberley Pollard to support young people who are pursuing their passions in the Business field.

  • Scholarship Amount: $1,000 (one scholarship will be awarded this cycle)
  • Open To: All seniors at Tracy High School pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business

BORRA FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Borra Family Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Steve Borra, whose greatest passions were winemaking and farming.

  • Scholarship Amount: $1,500 (Agriculture – 2 offered); $1,000 (Agriculture Trade School – 2 offered)
  • Open To: All high school seniors in the Lodi Unified School District pursuing an undergraduate degree in an Agricultural field; and those enrolling in a trade school with an Agricultural focus.
  • GPA Requirement: 2.5 GPA minumum

JOHN & FRANCESCA VERA COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP

The John & Francesca Vera Community Leadership Scholarship was established by John and Francesca Vera to support students of Hispanic/Latino descent who have an interest in community leadership.

  • Scholarship Amount: $2,500 (Hispanic/Latino Male Student- 1 offered); $2,500 (Hispanic/Latina Female Student – 1 offered)
  • Open To: All graduating seniors at Franklin High School in Stockton, California, pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university
  • Preference/Section Criteria: demonstration of leadership in their community
  • GPA Requirement: 3.0 GPA minimum

SAN JOAQUIN SOCIETY FOR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The San Joaquin Society for Human Resource Management Scholarship was established to support students who have an interest in becoming Human Resource professionals.

  • Scholarship Amount: $2,000 (two scholarships will be awarded this cycle for a total of $4,000 in scholarships)
  • Open To: All high school seniors in San Joaquin County pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration
  • GPA Requirement: 3.8 GPA minimum

STOCKTON STUDENT ATHLETES SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Stockton Student Athletes Scholarship Fund was originally established as the Jester’s Club Athletic Scholarship Fund in 2015 at the Community Foundation of San Joaquin. The fund was renamed the Stockton Student Athletes Scholarship Fund in 2020.

  • Scholarship Amount: $1,500 (two renewable scholarships will be awarded this cycle, which means you could receive up to $6,000 over four years.)
  • Open To: All high school seniors at any school located in the City of Stockton who will be playing on a college sports team

THE ROBERT & CATHERINE LAGORIO SCHOLARSHIP

The Robert & Catherine Lagorio Scholarship was established to support students from San Joaquin County pursing a career in veterinary medicine.

  • Scholarship Amount: $1,000 – $2,500 (Veterinary Technician or Assistant); $5,000 (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree)
  • Open To: All high school seniors in San Joaquin County pursuing a career in the Veterinary Field
  • High School graduates of San Joaquin County who are currently attending college and who have been accepted into a Veterinarian Medicine School to pursue a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree may apply for the $5,000 DVM scholarship.
  • GPA Requirement: 3.0 GPA minimum

WOMEN ATHLETES SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This Fund was originally established in 2018 at the Community Foundation of San Joaquin to support a program that is no longer in existence. The fund was renamed the Women Athletes Scholarship Fund in 2020 with the goal of expending the entirety of the fund as scholarships in 2021.

  • Scholarship Amount:  $2,500 (up to 6 scholarships will be awarded in 2021)
  • Open To: All graduating high school female student athletes in San Joaquin County who have been accepted to play on a college sports team

TAYLOR FARMS PACIFIC EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Taylor Farms Company scholarships are open to children and grandchildren of Taylor Farms Pacific or Abel Mendoza employees.  This scholarships is not open at this time.  Check back soon for updates to this scholarship.
